  • 1 bay leaf
  • 1 tablespoon black peppercorns optional
  • 1 teaspoon ground cardamom
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 2 serrano chilis, seeded and diced
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/2 teaspoon garam masala
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt, or to taste
  • 1/4 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1/4 cup heavy cream
