  • ½ teaspoon turmeric powder
  • salt as required
  • for tempering:
  • 2 tablespoons oil
  • ½ teaspoon mustard seeds
  • ¼ teaspoon fenugreek seeds
  • ½ teaspoon cumin seeds
  • 1 small to medium tej patta
  • a generous pinch of asafoetida
  • ½ teaspoon red chili powder
  • 2 dry red chilies
