- For cooking lentils:
- ½ cup tur dal
- 2 to 2.5 cups water
- 1 to 2 pinch turmeric powder
- Other Ingredients:
- 2 cups peeled and sliced white radish
- ¼ cup tamarind pulp
- 2 to 3 teaspoons sambar powder
- 1 teaspoon mustard
- ¼ teaspoon fenugreek seeds
- 5 to 6 shallots or pearl onions
- 1 to 2 dry red chilies
- ¼ teaspoon asafoetida
- ½ teaspoon urad dal
- 1 sprig curry leaves
- 1 medium size tomatoes
- 2 tablespoons oil
- salt as required
- ½ teaspoon sugar or jaggery
- ¼ teaspoon turmeric
- 1 to 1.5 cups water
