  • 2 cups peeled and sliced white radish
  • ¼ cup tamarind pulp
  • 2 to 3 teaspoons sambar powder
  • 1 teaspoon mustard
  • ¼ teaspoon fenugreek seeds
  • 5 to 6 shallots or pearl onions
  • 1 to 2 dry red chilies
  • ¼ teaspoon asafoetida
  • ½ teaspoon urad dal
  • 1 sprig curry leaves
  • 1 medium size tomatoes
  • 2 tablespoons oil
  • salt as required
  • ½ teaspoon sugar or jaggery
  • ¼ teaspoon turmeric
  • 1 to 1.5 cups water
