- 1 cup regular rice
- 1 cup parboiled rice or idli rice
- ½ cup spilt black lentils
- ¼ cup thick poha
- ¼ teaspoon fenugreek seeds
- salt
- water
- ingredients for the masala - potato filling:
- 4 to 5 medium sized potatoes
- 10 to 12 cashewnuts
- 10 to 12 curry leaves
- 1 tbsp chana dal
- 3 medium onions,
- ½ teaspoon mustard seeds
- 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
- 1 to 2 chopped green chillies
- 1 to 1.5 teaspoon chopped ginger
- 2 tablespoons chopped coriander leaves
- ½ tsp turmeric powder
- 1 pinch of asafoetida
- 2 tablespoons oil
- salt
