Homemade Tomato Basil Sauce
Ingredients (5)
- 6 (28-ounce) cans whole peeled tomatoes
- 1 cup olive oil
- 20 cloves garlic, minced
- salt to taste
- 4 ounces fresh basil leaves
Directions
- Combine canned tomatoes with their juices, olive oil, garlic, and salt in a large saucepan.
- Place tomato mixture over high heat and bring to a simmer. Cook uncovered on medium low, stirring frequently to ensure the bottom of the saucepan does not burn, about 25 minutes.
- Puree all the tomatoes using an immersion blender until it resembles a sauce.
- Add basil leaves to the sauce, pressing them in and mixing them around. Let it sit for 10 minutes, add more salt if needed.
