Candied Bacon
Ingredients (2)
- 1 pound bacon
- 2 cups brown sugar
Directions
- Preheat the oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit.
- Line a rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper sheet, 2 pieces side-by-side, then 1 perpendicular going the long way and repeat that so you have a total of 4 layers.
- Place an oven-proof cooling rack on top of the parchment paper. This will allow the bacon drippings to get collected on the parchment paper and not stick to your baking sheet.
- Combine bacon and brown sugar in a bowl until bacon is evenly coated with brown sugar using your hands to ensure every single piece of bacon is coated with brown sugar on both sides.
- Lay the coated bacon slices onto cooling rack on baking sheet. They can be very close together, as they cook, they will shrink and separate. Gently pat the remaining brown sugar left in the bowl onto the bacon slices using your hands.
- Cook in the preheated oven until bacon is golden brown on the top, 15 to 20 minutes. Flip every piece over and return to oven. Optional: sprinkle more brown sugar on top of the slices again.
- Cook until crispy and brown sugar has caramelized, about 15 minutes, checking on it every 5 minutes.
- Immediately transfer each piece onto a plate so the bacon won’t stick to the cooling rack.
