Brazilian Brigadeiros
Ingredients (5)
- 1 (14-ounce) can sweetened condensed milk
- 3 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 tablespoon unsalted butter, plus more for greasing
- 1 cup chocolate sprinkles, or as needed
- 1 cup rainbow sprinkles, or as needed
Directions
- Combine sweetened condensed milk, cocoa powder, and 1 tbsp butter in a medium saucepan over medium heat. Don’t worry if the butter doesn’t incorporate well, it will once on the heat.
- Grease a plate with extra butter, and set aside.
- Heat the milk-cocoa mixture, stirring constantly, until thick and starting to pull away from the sides and ball up on itself, 10 to 15 minutes. If it starts to bubble, turn down the heat.
- Pour the chocolate mixture onto the greased plate. Spread it out using an offset spatula or the back of a spoon, and let sit until cool enough to handle.
- Pour chocolate sprinkles into a shallow bowl and rainbow sprinkles into a separate bowl. Slightly grease your hands with butter.
- Spoon about 1 tablespoon chocolate mixture and roll into a ball between your hands. (You can make these as big as you want, though about ¾-inch diameter is traditional). Roll the balls in the chocolate sprinkles to cover and place into a plate. Repeat with the remaining chocolate mixture and chocolate sprinkles and rainbow sprinkles.
- Refrigerate until thoroughly chilled, about 90 minutes. Enjoy! Or propose marriage 🙂
