Bala Baiana
Ingredients (6)
- 1 tablespoon salted butter
- 1 can sweetened condensed milk
- ⅔ cup sweetened coconut flakes
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- ½ cup water
- 1 tablespoon vinegar
Directions
- Add butter to a saucepan over medium heat and cook until melted, 1 to 2 minutes.
- Stir sweetened condensed milk and coconut flakes into melted butter; cook and stir until the mixture is thickened and can pull away from the sides of the saucepan, 5 to 7 minutes. Pour mixture into a separate bowl and place in the refrigerator until cooled.
- Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Roll a spoonful of the mixture between greased hands to form a bite-sized ball and place it onto the prepared baking sheet until all of the mixture is used.
- Combine sugar, water, and vinegar in a saucepan; bring to a boil, stirring occasionally, until it turns amber in color, 5 to 10 minutes. Remove saucepan from heat.
- Insert a toothpick into each ball and dip it into the amber sugar and place back onto the baking sheet.
