• 2 Cups sugar

• 1 Teaspoon vanilla extract
• 1/4 Teaspoon salt
• 1 1-ounce bottles of red liquid food coloring
• 3 Tablespoons lukewarm water
• 1 Cup buttermilk (very important)
• 1 Teaspoon baking soda
• 1 Tablespoon white vinegar
• Basic Cream Cheese Frosting:
• 8 ounces cream cheese, at room temperature
• 1/2 Cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, at room temperature
• 1 Teaspoon vanilla extract
• 2 Cups confectioners sugar, sifted
